Parish Council and Committees
The purpose of St. Augustine's Parish Council is to share the priesthood of the laity with our ordained clergy and to bind ourselves together to carry out the mutual responsibilities of spreading the love of Christ. The Council is composed of twelve elected and nine ex-officio members. Membership in the committees is open to any Parishioner over the age of eighteen. The Parish Council holds scheduled meetings on the second Monday of each month, and attendance is open to all members of the Parish.
Education Committee This committee seeks ways and means to strengthen, support and maintain our educational programs. It facilitates communication between our School and Religious Education Programs. The committee also communicates to the Parish the positive aspects of the various educational programs within the Parish.
Administration CommitteeThis committee meets to systematize and prioritize the ongoing maintenance for all the facilities of the Parish, to ensure the clean, safe, secure, efficient and economical operation of the entire plant.
Respect Life Committee
Founded in 1986 at the request of Cardinal John J. O'Connor, this committee is dedicated to promote respect for all human life, from the moment of conception until natural death. Efforts are made to network with other parish and pro-life organizations in the area. Activities include the observance of October Respect Life Month, prayer vigils, Marian devotions,
Social Action Committee
The work of this committee is directed toward the issues of hunger and poverty on international, national and local levels. The committee leads the Parish in special holiday projects throughout the year. There is continual support for many local community groups, including Birthright and The Cardinal Cooke Home. The social action committee also holds a St. Augustine's blood drive each year
Spiritual Life CommitteeWithin the parish are many avenues of spiritual renewal. This committee is composed of a member of each of these groups: RCIA., Remembering, Operation Love, Scripture Sharing Groups, Cornerstone, and DDA. They meet to share the good things that are happening in their groups and how each group can support and enhance the other.
Youth CommitteeThis committee works with the youth of our parish in developing the social, athletic, apostolic and spiritual dimensions of their lives and to draw them into the activities of the Parish. The groups include God's TYM, DDA, CYO Basketball, Youth Club and our Scouting Groups.
