Engaged couples encounter both similar and different challenges as did previous generations.  Their expectations of marriage often include additional factors and conflicts not encountered by their parents.  However, the insights of successful marriages will traverse generational differences.

The Church can help couples advance their ability to communicate, develop a friendly atmosphere in which they can grow in faith and help them to plan a joyous and solemn marriage ceremony.  St. Augustine Parish requires that couples preparing for the Sacrament of Matrimony participate in Pre- Cana Programs prepared by the Archdiocese of New York.
